Hi Leaders, Rovers & Experienced Vennies

9-10th May - Register NOW to secure your spot
This is a reminder for the Trained Participant cycling course coming up in a few weeks. It is your chance to become qualified in teaching youth the basics of cycling. The course is primarily about Mountain Biking (MTB) but also covers areas of Road Biking. It will provide the skills to introduce MTB to your scouts and start enjoying the many trails we have in the ACT and surrounding region.
It is designed for people with existing basic skills in MTB, you should be an experienced cyclist with has good confidence off road. The aim of the course will be to enable leaders to demonstrate the skills required to mentor youth at OAS stages 4,5 & 6. The course can also support acquiring VET units for those interested and go towards youth achieving their own OAS stages.

Food: Morning and Afternoon tea will be provided but you will need to bring lunch for both days
Where: Camp Cottermouth - Activities Classroom & Stromlo Forest Park

You should have your own bike and equipment (please let us know if you do not and we can arrange bikes to hire for the weekend)
You must be a member of Scouts
This is not a beginner’s course, you should have some basic off road riding skills but we will not be advancing beyond Green (and some easy Blue) level tracks on this course
The broad outline for the course will be:
Saturday: Some theory and practical sessions on location. Everyone will be tasked with a small subject they will be asked to present on.
Sunday: The full day will be spent at Stromlo Forest park, we won’t be riding the whole time and will be stopping and learning skills.
